Manuka honey is made from nectar from the manuka tree, which grows only in New Zealand and contains the substance methylglyoxal (MGO), which gives the honey its special properties. The amount of MGO in the honey varies and is shown on Manuka Health products using MGO and a number describing how many mg of MGO the honey contains per kilogram. These throat lozenges contain manuka honey with an MGO value of at least 400.
